Sycamore bowl, 29cm

1 in stock

SKU: 500 Category:

I turned this bowl from the wood of a dead sycamore tree. The tree had shed much of its bark, exposing the wood beneath. I was able to retain the bark during the turning, so the rim of the bowl is the natural surface of the trunk. The piece was cut from a crotch, where a large branch joined the trunk. There is some crotch figure, and also some early spalting. There are some holes made by beetles too. The bowl is quite large, and would make a great fruit bowl.
