This is one of a series of bowls that I turned from the wood of a large sycamore tree. The base of the trunk was affected by fungus that had caused a lot of spalting. There is a network of lines meandering over the surface, and the fungus has made zones of colour. There is some ripple figure. The bowl is quite deep and chunky, with thick walls. There are some small spots where the variations in hardness of the wood left a slightly uneven surface. This bowl would not be suitable for moist food, but would be a great fruit bowl.
