Spalted beechwood bowl, 26 cm

SKU: 285 Category:

This bowl is made of beechwood from a large tree that came down in a storm. The tree was about 80 feet tall and grew in a private garden in Mill Hill in North London. The bottom of the trunk was spalted, a fungus attack that colours the wood and can make a complex web of meandering black lines, sometimes in parallel pairs as in this example. It would make an interesting and unusual fruit bowl.
