Description
This bowl is not for sale.
This bowl is made of beechwood from a large tree that came down in a storm. The tree was about 80 feet tall and grew in a private garden in Mill Hill in North London. Most of the timber was sound, but the bottom of the trunk was spalted, a fungus attack that colours the wood and can make meandering black lines, sometimes in parallel pairs as in this case. It would make an interesting and unusual fruit bowl.
