This bowl is made from the wood of a large beech tree that grew in a private garden in Mill Hill in North London. The tree came down in a storm. The base of the trunk was coloured by fungus, which left dark patches and meandering black spalt lines in the wood. There are some bark inclusions in the wall of this bowl, with some small natural fissures. I filled these with decorative metal inlay. I gave the bowl a raised pedestal foot.
