Description
I recently acquired some oak planks from a tree worker friend. He had them stacked under a big load of sycamore, where they had remained for about five years. He told me that the tree had been felled during redevelopment work. The planks had some rot and a lot of splits, so I was a bit dubious, but very pleased to find that fungus had coloured the wood to chocolate brown. I cut out the defects to make this small bowl, which has some pale sapwood.
