Small elm platter, 23 cm

Description

I turned this small platter from the wood of a big elm tree that fell during Storm Eunice in early 2022. It has pale sapwood that contrasts with the rich brown heartwood. There are small areas of burr figure, and some darker streaks on the underside that I think are early signs of spalting, which had affected other parts of the tree. I gave the platter a wide rim with a raised bead.
