This bowl is one of a series that I turned using plumwood from a Hampstead tree that fell in a storm, crushing a parked car as it did so. The freshly cut wood has vivid red/purple streaks, though they may fade to a rich red/brown with time. This bowl is 22 cm in diameter and has an area of pale sapwood. There are some natural fissures on the lower surface, on which I used contrasting filler. It could be used for fruit or salad.
