I am particularly pleased with the way this bowl turned out. I made if from freshly fallen oak as a ‘twice turned’ bowl. As the rough-turned shape dried it distorted as usual, but also developed a number of small fissures due to the tension in the wood fibres. I finished the turning, then filled the fissures with brass inlay. Where there were fissures, the bowl now has shining streaks of metal. The grain has darker and paler areas and some small knots. It would make an impressive fruit bowl.
