This little bowl is made from a small log of burr sycamore and is only 13 cm across. A bark inclusion detached during the turning, leaving a ‘window’ in the side. The window is framed by a narrow projecting strip of wood that is attached at one end only. It reminds me of a breaking wave. The side of the opening has a narrow band of bark that is about 5 mm thick at the rim, reducing to about 1 mm lower down. This is an interesting and unusual decorative piece.
