I turned this bowl from a log of oak. It is 23 cm across. The wood was unseasoned and I turned it while it was still green. This allowed the bowl to warp and develop some surface texture as it dried. The dead tree was cut down after it had been standing for some time. During this period the sapwood beneath the bark was attacked by wood boring insects Their tunnels are visible in places. There are some small knots with natural fissures, so this is not a bowl for moist food. The bowl has a medium gloss finish.
