This bowl was made from a small oak log. The dead tree had been standing for a while beforfe it fell, and some early signs of spalting developed. It also has one or two small holes left by wood boring insects. The ray structure is unusually prominent, looking almost like burr oak. Though turned green and slightly oval in shape, its surface is smooth, with little of the texture that often comes as the wood dries. At 17 cm in diameter, this is a useful bowl.
