Elm is an unusual tree these days, due to the damage caused by Dutch elm disease many years ago. One of the few remaining local trees fell in a storm in early 2022, and I was fortunate to acquire some of the timber. I turned a series of bowls from it. The wood has a rich dark colour. There are a few small natural fissures, making this bowl less suitable for moist food. I made this one quite chunky, with strong, thick walls.
