Description
This bowl is one of a number that I am working on at present. I was fortunate to obtain some planks of oak from a tree worker friend, who had stored them in his garden for about five years while they dried. The wood had been invaded by fungi, specifically ‘beefsteak’ fungus, which is known to colour oak brown. This piece is the colour of chocolate, with its sapwood remaining pale in colour.
