Beechwood bowl, 22 cm

This bowl is one of a number that I turned from the wood of a large beech tree that grew in a private garden in Mill Hill in North London. The tree came down in a storm. It has some unobtrusive minor cracks that have been filled to stabilise them. The tree had been attacked by fungus, that has given the wood a darker colour, with a narrow band of white. It is quite deep, and could be used for fruit.
