A wooden fruit bowl, 19 cm across. This bowl is made of sweet chestnut wood from a tree that grew in Hampshire. This piece has a lot going on in the timber. It has some areas of ripple figure, some small knots, one large fissured knot in the base, and a small flaw at the rim where wood has partly grown into a small hollow. Chestnut is a strong timber similar to oak, in this case with a warm golden brown colour.
